You spin me right ’round, baby, right ’round…

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

Hi Folks!

For those of you who haven’t tried it yet, I’ve discovered a really fun activity - spinning! You stand in one place and then you turn around and around in circles until you get dizzy. Take a moment to recover, and then start again! Mommy keeps imitating me, but she puts her arms out straight to the side like wings - she looks really silly, if you ask me. The best way to spin is with your arms at your side, or with your blankie scrunched up in your mouth with both hands.

I have also discovered that that big noisy door in the kitchen? If you open it up, there’s awesome stuff behind it like juice and grapes! So, if you want something more to drink or eat, just go to the door, and point and say “eh?”. Repeat it enough times, and your mom or dad will get the idea. With patience, they can be taught!

I’m feelin’ better - and feistier!

Hi everyone!

Looks like we’ve turned the corner and I’m feeling better. My dad and mom say they can tell, because my appetite is back and I also am putting up more of a fight! But - I’m still longing for those naps! This morning, mommy was trying to read me a story, and I kept getting off her lap and trying to climb up onto the crib! She took the clue, lifted me up and put me in, and I immediately rolled over into dreamland. It takes a little body language, but she does eventually take the hint!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….

I don’t feel good!

Hi everyone,

So,  in addition to a new haircut, I also am sporting another new look - more teeth! Yup, I had two big ol’ molars (we think that’s what they are) come in at the same time on both sides of my mouth, and it HURT! I’ve spent a good deal of time with my fist jammed in my mouth, and have drooled gallons on my shirtfronts! But on top of that, I guess my immune system was down because I caught a nasty cold! It’s actually a good thing that it’s been so rainy lately, because I don’t even feel like playing outside even if I could. I’ve spent the last couple of days very red-eyed, sleepy/sleeping, and watching a LOT of kids’ tv (the best kind!). My mommy is really nice and reads stories to me too, but I usually only last through about 2-3 and then I want to go sleep again! The good thing is that my doctor saw me on Monday and reassured us that I don’t have to take antibiotics this time, just decongestent and tylenol. They still taste horrible though, and I give my folks a real run for their money when it’s time for me to take them!

I chose to be nice to my dad and mom this time, and kept my cold all to myself. Hopefully I’ll be back to full speed after one more day of rest!

Haircut Hullaballoo

Wednesday, March 16th, 2005

So, my mom, who usually takes me to fun places like the park after lunch, pulled a switcheroo on me today and took me to…that den of evil - the haircut place! Man, I do NOT like it there! She held me on her lap, and she kept saying things in my ear like how nice it was gonna be for me to be able to see again, and that I was a really brave big boy. I was not to be fooled - I know that the ultimate intentions of that woman with the scissors is to try and snip my ears! I will admit that I look much tidier now, but that doesn’t mean I had to like it! Afterwards,  Mommy took me over to Peet’s and Pammy bought me some cookies. Then I got to play outside our house for a really long time, before I decided it was time for a well-needed nap. What does my mom mean when she says she’s jealous?

I’m plum tickled!

Saturday, March 5th, 2005

Yay! It’s getting to be fresh fruit season again! That means mommy and daddy have been buying me yummy grapes, which are so much better than that same ol’ banana and yogurt combo I usually get for breakfast. Even better though? Plums are back in town! Cappy has surprised me with a plum of my very own the last couple of times I’ve seen him, and I tear through one of those things with true wild abandon! Three cheers for fruit! (Oh, and strawberries, too! Don’t let me forget strawberries!).

I like the cars…the cars that go zoom…

Tuesday, March 1st, 2005

Hi everyone!

Those of you who know me will not be surprised to hear that I really like cars and trains…basically anything with wheels! I like them so much, that I have developed a new way of expressing my appreciation for them - I wave when they go by! Doesn’t matter if I’m going down the street in my stroller, or sitting in my high chair having breakfast by the window, or hanging out in the park - I just really like to wave at cars. Now, my daddy doesn’t have wheels persay, but he does say “I’m gonna roll” when he’s leaving in the morning for work, so I always wave ‘bye bye’ when my mom tells me that he’s about to leave. I keep waving even when the door has shut, because I believe in being thorough!

When not in the vicnity of items with wheels, I still enjoy my books a great deal. If you tell me to go get a book off of my shelf (ie: “Decker, where’s ‘Mr Night’?), I can usually go find it for you. The best part is that after I find the book, my mommy or daddy will read it to me! If not playing with books, I am also fond of gathering up all of my blankets and Sesame Street friends and attempting to carry them all at the same time. Sure, it means I can’t see my feet - but it’s my posse - I gotta have them with me! Grover, Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Elmo…they’re my peeps! And they all need a blanket.
