The Naked Truth

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

Aside from fresh fruit and a chance to play outside, I’ve discovered another of life’s simple pleasures - nudity! That’s right, if you can time it right after your bath or a quick diaper change, you can squirm away from your mom really fast and make a run for it, squealing with delight at the top of your lungs! I don’t know what it is, but being free of the heavy constraints of clothing is fanTAStic! Once you’ve made a run for it, I recommend heading into the next room and surprising any grownups who are sitting there! Then, make a leap for someone’s lap, and cuddle up against them like a rhesus monkey clinging to a terrycloth dummy-mom (mommy says that’s what I look like). Trust me - it always gets a response! My aunt Katil says I’m a little naked gremlin!

I love Utah in June…how about you?

Hey all!

It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted, and that’s because I traveled really far away with my mommy for two weeks, to a very distant land called “Utah”. We got to fly on an airplane, and before we took off, I got to look out at the giant airport parking lot for airplanes, and there were lots of really cool trucks with suitcases stacked on them! I could have stood there for hours!

Utah was fun - Pammy, Katil and Tully came along (yay! more people to carry me and do stuff for me!) and even though it rained a lot we still got to play out in the yard quite a bit. Mommy played this silly game where she pulled out flowers she called “dandilions” and big tufts of grass from the garden, and Pammy, Katil and Tully had these big toothbrushes with long handles, and they kept dipping them into a bucket of something that looked like milk, and then moving them up and down on the shutters of the house. They climbed up on ladders to do this, but there weren’t any slides, so I don’t think they could have had much fun. I had a mini-grocery cart and a cart for a croquet set to push/pull around, and I was quite content! But - I’ll admit, I was conflicted when I saw Tully mow the lawn - I’m really scared of garden machines, but I also really like to push things with wheels, so I was sort of scared/jealous!

We ate lots of blueberries while we were there, and went to some fun places like Liberty Park (I found lots of pinecones to play with!) and the grocery store! We also visited with some family and friends - we went out to Magna to visit with my mommy’s uncle Lance and aunt Julie, and my mommy’s cousins and their two kids, Oscar and Zeke. Oscar and Zeke are 5 and 2 1/2, and they were really fun! They had all these toys with wheels, and they let me play with them! They were ‘big kids’, who I am fascinated by but also still kind of nervous around, so I watched them a lot and did my own thing, but didn’t really get into the fray with them just yet. They were really cool, though!  I got kind of confused by uncle Lance, because he looks just like Cappy, only he has hair above his lip. He looked familiar enough that I was happy to give him a hug, but it sure was weird…I kept pointing to Cappy/Not Cappy, and mommy kept calling him “Uncle Lance“ - it just didn’t make sense! You would think they were brothers or something! We also saw our friends Margaret and Libby, and because they were talking boring grownup talk, my mommy gave me a special treat - I got to watch back-to-back Baby Einstein videos downstairs, with unlimited juice and cheerios - it was sooooo cool! Everytime a grownup came to check on me, I was sitting on couch, juice in one hand, cheerios in another, and laughing a big belly laugh at the funny puppets. Pure bliss!

I showed off some new skills for everyone while we were on our trip - if you ask me to “jump”, I will shuffle/stomp my little feet up and down with a big grin. I also helped Pammy sweep the walkway and pack/unpack her bags. I like to help, don’t forget!

And now we’re back and I was really glad to see my daddy again. He painted our kitchen while we were gone - it looks great! And he planted a really pretty garden for mommy up on the deck, so we have nice things to look at outside. I’m napping a lot, catching up from my whirlwind adventure. And then I start a new session of “Hippity Hoppers” tomorrow morning - woo hoo!

Have a good one!
