Diary of a Short Silly Toddler
Hi everyone!
You may notice that it’s been a while since I last updated you all on my latest doings! Well, I figured it would be a nice treat for my folks if I brought home another round of toddler-itis from playgroup, and until a couple of days ago it’s been phlegm-central around here. As a result, my stenographer (Mommy) wasn’t really available to help me get my thoughts onto paper (or online, as it were) for a while. But we’re back now, baby - it’s all cool! And I have a lot to fill you in about!
Let’s see…we’ll start with Father’s Day weekend! It was really busy and really fun. On Saturday, Daddy took me and Mommy to the Model Railroad Museum in Larkey Park. This place was SO cool! Inside, there are great big toy railroads, with grownup men sitting behind all the tracks, playing with their trains. We weren’t allowed to play with the trains ourselves, but we were allowed to watch! They had gone to a lot of effort to make little towns and mountains and stuff for the trains to run on, and there was even a fake thunderstorm while we were in there! Daddy held me on his shoulders and reassured me it wasn’t real thunder, so I wasn’t too scared. There were so many trains to look at! I really like trains!
Then, the next day we drove really really really far and went to a place called “Muir Woods”. It was pretty neat - lots of big trees and a wooden sidewalk you can run up and down on. We stopped to eat some breakfast, and we saw some deer! And then more trees! And then I decided that my tummy hurt and I didn’t feel good (in hindsight, my mom wants to add, that’s when my folks should have realized I might be getting sick) and so I had a good little mini-fit right there in the woods. And then, I gave up and sat on my daddy’s shoulders again and all was well. And I slept and slept all the way home! Oh - I forgot - the best part about Muir Woods? They have a parking lot there, and when we left we saw tons and tons of BUSES! What a great park!
Ok, so then the next couple of weeks are sort of a blur ‘cuz I was sick with a stomach bug (I scared my mom and dad with a 105 fever!) and then I got a cold that lingered plus allergies. Bleah. But during all that I still tried to be a fun little guy and be silly and continue to learn and do new things. Examples:
* I can now find my shadow! It’s so amazing - there’s this dark spot in front of you in the afternoon, that attaches to your feet, and it walks in front of you! You can walk along and point out at it, and it still stays with you! (But when your mom sneaks up behind you, it disappears for a bit - that’s weird!).
* I can ‘moonwalk’! Well, that is - I can walk backwards until I realize I’m doing it. Then I stop, try to figure out what I was doing, and then I just go in circles!
* Daddy planted a beautiful garden for Mommy up on the deck while we were in Utah. Every morning, we go outside and I turn on the water and hand the hose to her so we can give all the plants a drink of water and a bath. I’m really helpful! I can also push on the sliding glass door and screen door and close them when we’re done!
Last but not least - I went to another baseball game with my folks this past week, and had a great time! I was a good boy from the first pitch to the last inning, and best of all? The A’s won! Let’s go, Chavez! I got to eat lots of grapes and cheerios and drink lots of juice, and made friends with folks all around me. My grandpa Rick was there too, and he and daddy would cheer very loud when someone would hit the ball, so of course I would clap along! Baseball is fun!
