Beat the Heat - Decker J Style
Hi all! Well, it’s been hecka hot around here lately! The last 2 1/2 weeks the temps at our house have hovered around 95-103 degrees, whatever that means. All I know is that I want to go outside, and I’m really nice about it and I go over and knock on the door and say “ah ah?” and look sweetly at my mom and figure that she’ll figure that going outside would indeed be the perfect plan at the present time. But no…I usually am told “Sweetie, it’s too hot”. WHATEVER! Don’t get me wrong, mommy takes me to the playground every morning, when it’s cooler. But in the afternoon after my naps? Denied!
We have this plastic purple tub thing called a “pool”, with pictures of penguins and pelicans in it. Most of the time, I really don’t want anything to do with it. But yesterday afternoon, my mom and dad took me outside to the back patio, where it was shadier and they had set out the pool and put water in it. They took off their shoes and stomped around in the pool, and pretty soon I got the idea that maybe I would want to join in. So I sat down right in the water and got very wet! They stripped me down and let me run around naked for the rest of the time, and I developed a little routine to help keep cool, which goes as follows:
1. Step into pool. Point at pictures of penguins and pelicans. Step back out.
2. Run over to the grass and sit down.
3. Go over to the flower box, and play with the wooden lady bugs that spin. Put rock through holes in trellis.
4. Go over to the trees and kiss them. Then go kiss mommy. Then daddy.
5. Go back to pool. Repeat.
Good times!
In other news: I can correctly identify whose car belongs to who, and I know the words Jetta, Passat and Mazda! If you ask me “Where’s Daddy’s car?” or “Where’s the Jetta (Aunt Katil’s car)?”, I will point to them quite proudly!
And - on Friday we went to a place called PIXAR with Pammy, Cappy, Katil and Tully, and they had this thing going on called a “Motorama” which meant that there were cars and trucks EVERYWHERE! I got to sit in the driver’s seat of a real live fire truck! Yahoo!
Mommy’s car is boring. She needs ladders and a hose and a siren.
