That’s one giant leap for Decker-kind…

Hi everyone!

It’s been a while since I wrote, but I sure have been up to quite a lot! I’ve been making new verbal sounds, refining my muscial skills (especially drumming), and perhaps most importantly - I’ve been introducing my parents to the idea that I am ready for a big boy bed!

Yup, I’ve made my point and let my folks know that I am a active lil’ guy who cannot be contained by bars or doors. Last week they went to a place called North Carolina, because my uncle Ryan was getting married to Amanda there, and my dad must have won some prize in a man contest, because he was the ‘best man’. Anyway, I figured a long plane ride and lots of grownups talking for 4 days wouldn’t be too interesting, so I opted to stay behind and hang out with Tully, Katil, Pammy and Cappy here in California. I felt pretty independent being on my own, and decided to prove it to Pammy and Tully one night when they tried to make me go to bed. I KNEW they were having fun without me downstairs, and doggone it, I wanted to stay where they were! So after Pammy closed the door and headed back to the kitchen, I decided to take matters into my own hands and launch myself out of the crib and onto the floor. Apparently I shook the house (well, I AM a big boy! 26 lbs!) and for some reason Pammy got pretty freaked out by the whole thing. So ever since then, I have been sleeping on the fold-out couch in my room, and next week my folks are gonna go buy me my very own big boy bed. The only problem is that even though I am moving on to the next step in sleep arrangements, I still kinda like the idea of feeling safe and contained. A big mattress on the floor doesn’t really do that, so my parents have been helping me fall asleep with them next to me in my room. This works well at night, but not so good for nap time. Mommy tries really hard to show me that it’s naptime and pretends to go to sleep herself, but I think it’s time to pull out every book I own and read every single one, and then inventory all the toys and blankets in my room! Yeah, good times in Decker’s pad! (Except my folks have now put this weird thing on the doorknob in my room that makes it so I can’t open it anymore - I don’t know what their deal is - must be a phase).

Fave raves for the week: Sticks! You can direct the band, you can drum on trees, you can wave them in the air!
