Catchin’ Up
Hi all!
Well, it’s been over a month since I related my latest doings, so here is a broad summary of what I’ve been up to since mid-October!
First of all, at the end of October we had this really cool thing that my folks called “Halloween”. It was soooo fun! My mom and dad put me into this very soft jumpsuit that had elephant ears and a big pillow tummy, and told people I was something called “Dumbo”. All I know is that elephants rule - I can make an elephant noise all by myself! - and that all the grownups we saw in our complex seemed to thing the same way because they all smiled and told me I was very cute! Mommy and Daddy got into the fun of dressing up as well, and they put on hardhats and toolbelts and looked like Bob the Builder and Wendy! Cool, huh? The best part about Halloween, is that you can go from door to door, and people are really nice and friendly and then they put stuff in your pumpkin bucket! I liked the stickers best, so I gave all my candy to my folks. (You know, give them a little somethin’ somethin’ for taking me all around that night). Then after we went around to all the houses in our complex, and saw my fellow neighbor ankle-biters dressed up in their outfits too, we went to Walnut Creek and walked around Broadway Plaza. There were lots more people in funny outfits there, but no other Dumbos! The stores were nice and gave stuff to us if we walked up them and said something like “Sticker Eat!”. But I don’t want to eat my stickers, just peel them off and put them on my shirt. We went to dinner at a pizza place with Katil (Edna Mode), Tully (Cat in the Hat), Pammy (a pumpkin) and Cappy (a FEMA worker). It was fun and I got to play with crayons at the dinner table!
Then, in early November we went to Salt Lake City again! (Me, my mommy, Pammy, Katil and Tully). I am getting super good at this flying stuff - I sit in my carseat like a good boy and I like to watch the lights outside the windows. Then, if I get antsy I go and sit with my mommy and I’m very calm and behave myself and listen to her read books or watch a video on Pammy’s dvd player. Utah was fun; we spent a lot of time in the yard playing with this gigantic fork called a rake. The grownups use it to gather up the leaves that are all falling off the trees right now (by the way, has anyone else noticed that’s happening a lot lately? Shouldn’t someone look into that maybe? I’m just sayin…plus they’re turning different colors too! That’s weird…), and then I would go jump in the pile and roll around! We also got to visit with my mommy’s cousin Crystal and her family, and that was fun because they have two bigger boys (5 and 3! SO old!) and a baby girl. The two boys were nice and let me play with all their cars, which at the end of the evening I waved bye bye to each individually and then put away in the box. The little baby girl just mostly lay on the floor, and I liked her so I kept laying on the floor next to her and making the sign for baby. That’s right - I made up my very own sign for baby, much to my folks’ surprise! I will pretend to rub my eyes like I’m crying - because babies cry, you see. Anyway, we were gone for 10 days and I had a blast playing with Pammy and my aunties and getting to sleep in my very own big boy bed there, and even though I got the stomach flu at one point I was still a trooper!
Lastly, I have been showing off a LOT of new sounds and signs over the past three weeks! I can now say ‘ba’, ‘ha’, ‘na’, ‘ta’, ‘da’, ‘pa’, ‘duhkuh duhkuh’ (mom and dad think I’m saying ‘Decker’), ‘ma’, and lots of others! I can put my lips together and I try to blow, and I can pretend to sneeze “ah ah tooooooooo’. I can make animals noises for elephant, lion, bear, cow, cat, dog, fish, horse, bunny rabbit (you hop), frog, sheep, duck, camel, hyena and snake. I can also sign in sentences, like “more milk”, or “decker wants ______”. I sign “mommy” and “daddy” when I want them, and am combining lots of sounds and signs together. I love to pretend to sleep (or make my toys or other grownups pretend to sleep) by laying down and making a snoring noise, and then sitting up to “wake up!”. I will blow kisses and hug my chest to say ‘I love you’, and I always make sure to do this for my mommy and daddy when they put me to bed. They say I make them laugh, because they’ve never seen a kid who begs to go to bed! What can I say, I love my new big boy bed and I love to snuggle with a pillow under a blanket! When I’m ready to go to bed, I’ll go around and offer up my cheek to everyone to kiss, and then blow a kiss, wave bye bye, and get my blanket and hold up my arms. Hey, the system works, so why not? I get a good sleep and a couple of stories out of it!
So, that’s my latest! I hope everyone had a good weekend and is having fun playing with all the sticks and red leaves that have been falling on the ground!
